Visit Port Kembla Beach, Warilla Beach, Elliot Lake Estuary, Shellharbour North and South Beaches, Minnamurra Beach and Estuary, Kiama Downs, Bombo Beach, Kiama harbour, blowhole and beach.
Leaving the train at Coniston avoids the CBD. Cycle down Bridge St., cross busy Springhill Rd. at the lights to access the parallel cycle path. Stay on the path and follow along Five Islands Rd. and continue left on Foreshore Rd (5.4km from start) to the Heritage Park and café with an elevated view over the harbour entrance and breakwaters.
Continue along the coast overlooking Kembla Beach then downhill to the secondary school. Turn left up a steep hill to visit Hill 60 for 360° views. Otherwise continue straight along Cowper St (take the footpath) turn left at Parkes St and left again Shellharbour Rd. Look out for Wattle St after six or so km, then right into Ocean St. to Windang . Cross the bridge over the lake entrance.
Cycle along the magnificent Warilla beachfront, over the estuary bridge to Shellharbour beach, shops and cafés. Proceed up Darley St, right at Sophia St. left at Addision then busy Shellharbour Rd. Use footpaths.
Leave the road at Dunmore on the left, cycle right to end at the rail line. See google map. Cross the line and use paths that follow the rail track. Cross the Minnamurra River, turn left then right into Railway Ave, left at Rangoon Rd, right Charles Ave. and proceed right to the lookout up a hilly road (Carson Pl.) and bike path. Then cycle along the beach front drive, the Cliff Dr. and a bike path across the Bombo headland. You will notice the sewage works on your left!
Use the steps to access the bike path on the sea side of the highway just before Bombo station. See google map. Pass over the bridge that crosses the creek and immediately loop around to Hothersal St. It is now only 1.6 km to the heart of Kiama, the blowhole and beach and the rail station.
